The Environment Authority today concluded the 2nd edition of the “Turtle Commandos” programme, which focuses on the protection and detection of turtles in the Sultanate of Oman.

The concluding event was held under the patronage of Dr. Yahya Badr Al Ma’awali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah.

The 6-month programme was participated by more than 270 volunteers from Oman and abroad.

As many as 16,369 campaigns were conducted within the framework of the programme, in addition to awareness programmes on the importance of marine turtles.

Moreover, the first edition of Turtle Commandos was inaugurated in 2021.
