Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad said on Tuesday23/8/2022 launching Climatech Run 2022 competition sends a clear message that the UN climate conference, COP27, is a holistic event that allows participation for all and turns the youth voices into executive measures to face climate change.
Speaking during her participation in the launch of the competition, Fouad reviewed some Egyptian examples that took executive measures to face climate change repercussions in cooperation with the telecommunications sector.
The ClimaTech Run is a competition addressing startups from around the world and digital artists, aiming to increase the role they can play in raising awareness of climate change and also introducing innovative and sustainable solutions for climate action.
This is through ideas presented in various fields such as clean energy, smart transportation, and food security, as well as promoting circular economy efforts in Africa; the region most impacted by climate change.
The competition is organized by the Ministries of International Cooperation, Environment, and Communications and Information Technology in partnership with the USAID, Afreximbank, World Food Program, Google, the United Nations Population Fund, General Motors, and Mansour Group.
The event is also held in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the United Nations Development Program Accelerator Labs (UNDP), Microsoft, AfriLabs, the Youth Entrepreneurs Network, the International Association for the Advancement of Innovative Approaches to Global Challenge and Falak Startups.
