The Environment Ministry has implemented a training program on the management and safe disposal of medical waste for officials concerned in hospitals and other health facilities.
Targeting 1,200 trainees nationwide, the program was organized in cooperation with the Health and Population Ministry and under the sponsorship of the United Nations Development Program.
The training focused on the concept of integrated environmental management in health care facilities and support systems for the safe disposal of hazardous infectious and chemical waste, in addition to the occupational health and safety within health facilities.
It highlighted the danger of unsafe handling of hazardous medical waste to public health.
