DUBAI: Dr. Kristina Kallas, Minister of Education and Research of the Republic of Estonia, affirmed her country’s keenness to enhance cooperation with the UAE in various fields, especially in the field of education.
She stated in a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2024 in Dubai that education is the essence of success in the future, ‘so we must invest strongly in this vital sector for its pivotal role in shaping a bright and prosperous future for peoples and nations’.
She emphasised that the Republic of Estonia allocates about 6 percent of its gross domestic product to the education sector, having worked for years to integrate technology into the educational process instead of traditional textbook methods, in order to streamline the requirements of this process and save allocated funds for the education budget.
Kallas emphasised the importance of the WGS and its themes, as well as its gathering of leaders, ministers, and specialists from aro
und the world, which is very important for deliberation and envisioning the future of future generations.
She pointed out that artificial intelligence, which was discussed at the WGS, contributes to making the educational process more beneficial and in a shorter time than the usual school hours, as well as contributing to saving teachers’ time.
She explained that the relations between the UAE and Estonia have been extremely fruitful in the past period, noting that over the past two years, a memorandum of understanding on educational cooperation between the two countries has been signed.
