Exhibition in honor of the martyrs of DGAM Syria

Damascus,SANA- , In tribute to the 27 martyrs who gave their lives in defense of Syrian cultural heritage during the war, an exhibition of recovered archaeological treasures was inaugurated at the National Museum of Damascus.

The exhibition was titled “Homage to the martyrs of the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums” (DGAM).

In a statement to reporters, Culture Minister Lubana Mashweh said terrorists and antiquities’ thieves tried to steal these ancient artifacts out of Syria, but they were recovered with the help of security forces and the Syrian Arab Army.


Thousands of archaeological pieces were recovered and some of them were damaged and others restored She reported.

Mashweh said that “The exhibition conveys a message of respect and love to the workers and archaeologists who lost their lives while carrying out their work to protect the antiquities and museums, to all those who extended a hand to recover the monuments, especially the security forces and the Syrian Arab Army”
