DUBAI: The 1 Billion Followers Summit, the world’s largest gathering of thought leaders and influencers in the digital space, in Dubai, featured a compelling panel discussion on the intricacies of podcasting on its second and concluding day. Titled ‘Podcast Pitfalls and What to Look Out For’, the session brought together a distinguished panel of industry experts to illuminate the challenges and opportunities within the rapidly evolving podcasting landscape.

The esteemed panellists included Bassel Alzaro, renowned co-founder of El-podcasters and host of X Factor Arabia; Tarek Sekik and Mouin Gaber, the co-hosts of the famous podcast ‘Sarde After Dinner.’ Beki Ksri, a seasoned podcaster and influencer known for her insightful perspectives, moderated the discussion skilfully.

The discussion started with Bassel Alzaro, leveraging his experience as a multifaceted artist and a prominent figure in the podcasting community. Alzaro emphasized the importance of authenticity in podcasting, as he shared ‘podcasting is
not just about content; it is equally about connecting with the audience on a deeper level’.

Tarek Sekik brought a unique blend of humor and practical insights to the discussion. He highlighted the significance of engaging storytelling and ensuring the content resonates with the audience while sharing personal anecdotes and weaving them into a narrative to create a more relatable and enjoyable listening experience.

Mouin Gaber, on the other hand, delved into the distribution side of podcasting, addressing the challenges podcasters face in determining the right platforms and ensuring they monetize their content.

The panelists shared views on strategic approaches to attracting sponsors and building sustainable revenue streams, offering valuable insights into the financial aspects and emphasizing the significance of using the right platforms for the right content, such as podcasting.

The second annual edition of the 1 Billion Followers Summit, organized by the New Media Academy, has explored emerging trends for over two days, 10-11 January, and provided a platform for industry leaders to share their expertise.
