LONDON: Sheikh Faisal bin Sultan Al Qasimi attended the Annual Lunch of the Trucial Oman Scouts’ Officers Association, held yesterday here on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the association’s establishment. The gathering was also attended by retired Major General Saif Mubarak Al Riyami.

In his speech, Sheikh Faisal said that the ‘Trucial Oman Scouts’ was established in 1951 with its headquarters in Sharjah.

At its inception, he said, the Trucial Oman Scouts played an active role in protecting and developing the society of the Trucial States in general and the city of Al Ain in particular, noting that the major contributions made by it members are still visible until today.

Sheikh Faisal added: “We take pride today in participating in the anniversary of the establishment of the Trucial Oman Scouts in the presence of a number of retired officers to celebrate together the efforts of the members of the Armed Forces before the establishment of the Union.

‘This is a celebration of both history and the i
mpact left by great men in this place. It’s also a time for honouring the precious sacrifices they made in defence of the homeland and in contributing to the development of society.’
