DUBAI: The UAE Federation of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) discussed the potential formation of a joint business council with Latvia.

The council’s goal will be to facilitate trade and investment cooperation and serve as a forum for entrepreneurs and investors. It would also organise joint activities and encourage mutual visits by trade missions and participation in trade fairs and exhibitions hosted by both sides.

The proposal was made at a meeting between Humaid Mohammed bin Salem, Secretary-General of the FCCI, and Dana Goldfinca, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the UAE, at the FCCI’s office in Dubai.

The meeting was also attended by Ahmed Juma Al Qaizi, FCCI Assistant Secretary-General, and Marcis Maksims, Deputy Head of the Latvian Mission to the UAE.

During the meeting, Humaid bin Salem highlighted the importance of establishing a joint business council to enhance and create direct relations between Emirati and Latvian entrepreneurs and investors and improve their bilateral ti
es, especially in key areas such as information technology, small and medium-sized enterprises, food, tourism, and innovation.

These sectors are crucial for reinforcing the cooperation between the two nations, he said.

Goldfinca lauded the bilateral ties between the two countries and welcomed the cooperation with FCCI and its efforts to serve their business communities.
