Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait said Saturday 28/01/2023 the state budget for the FY2023/2024 targets more than 5.5 percent economic growth and an initial surplus of at least 2 percent.

Addressing the 9th Akhbar Al-Youm Economic Conference, Maait added that the state budget also aims to reduce the fiscal deficit and the debt-to-GDP ratio.

Maait reiterated his ministry’s commitment to maintaining communication channels with investors and stakeholders in the business community to explore whatever contributes to attracting additional investments, creating new jobs, transferring technology home, increasing exports, boosting employment rates, and meeting budget targets.

He also affirmed keenness to communicate with the scientific, public and private business communities to discuss fiscal policies with the goal of ensuring a greater community dialogue on the most important aspects of these policies, such as the state budget, which affects and is affected by every citizen.
