KAMPALA: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad al-Malki, today discussed with South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Naledi Pandor, joint efforts exerted at all levels to end the Israeli war against the Palestinian people.
The two discussed efforts made to end the genocide war which is being waged by Israel against Palestinians, in addition to efforts aimed at enabling the Palestinian people to realize all their legitimate and inalienable rights; with the right to self-determination and independence at the forefront of these rights.
This came during a meeting held on the sidelines of the 19th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) held in Uganda, Kampala.
During the meeting, Malki expressed the appreciation of the Palestinian people and leadership, headed by President Mahmoud Abbas, for the principled and historical position of South Africa to file a case against the Israeli occupation regarding its violation of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of
the Crime of Genocide during its war on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Malki said the Palestinian leadership supports the historic action taken by the Republic of South Africa, describing it as a rigorous step taken toward confronting the crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
At the same time, this step strengthens the status of international law, its importance and the universalization of its implementation without exception or the exclusion of any party, he stressed.
He pointed out that this legal step taken by South Africa represents the highest degree of solidarity among the peace-loving peoples, urging other countries to follow in its footsteps.
The Minster affirmed Palestine and South Africa’s respect for international order based on the law and the legal procedures of the court.
