FM, UN Secretary discuss over phone ongoing preparations for COP27

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry had talks over the phone with UN Secretary General António Guterres on ongoing preparations for the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 27) that Egypt will host in Sharm el Sheikh in November.

In statements on Friday 11/03/2022, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said that the two sides also discussed issues related to climate change.

During the phone call, the UN Secretary General asserted the United Nations’ support of the Egyptian efforts to enhance international action to confront climate change at all levels, the spokesman added.

The two sides agreed on continuing coordination and consultation in this regard in the coming period, the spokesman said.
