FNC Speaker discuses enhancing cooperation with Speakers of Parliaments of Paraguay, Uruguay, Senegal, and Tajikistan

Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) held separate meetings with the Speakers of Parliaments of Paraguay, Uruguay, Senegal and Tajikistan, on the sidelines of the parliamentary meeting and the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28), which is being hosted at Expo City Dubai.

While meeting with the Speaker of the Paraguayan Chamber of Deputies, Raúl Luis Latorre Martínez; Sebastian Andujar, President of the House of Representatives of Uruguay; Amadou Mame Diop, President and Speaker of the National Assembly of Senegal; Chairman of the House of Representatives of Tajikistan Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda, the FNC Speaker discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations in various fields, especially activating cooperation and parliamentary relations between the FNC and their respective parliamentary assemblies.

They also emphasised the importance of exchanging visits and parliamentary expertise and enhancing coordination and consultation regarding various issues of common interest between the UAE
and their respective countries.

Several FNC members attended the meeting.

Ghobash said that the UAE is keen on exerting all efforts that would develop various forms of cooperation with all friendly countries and build bridges of trade, economic and investment cooperation that would benefit the UAE and their respective countries.

He also stressed the importance of developing parliamentary work to the level of future challenges and enhancing the role of parliamentary institutions through parliamentary diplomacy, noting that views were exchanged on all regional and international developments.

Ghobash also highlighted the importance of continuous consultation on international issues of common concern.

In turn, the Speakers of the Parliaments of Paraguay, Uruguay, Senegal and Tajikistan emphasised their countries’ keenness on strengthening ties with the UAE in all sectors, praising the role of the FNC at the internal and external levels and the UAE’s vision for exploring the future.

They also highlighted the
UAE’s success in hosting the parliamentary meeting and COP28, as well as the key role of parliaments in finding effective solutions to climate change issues.
