RAMALLAH: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates today strongly condemned and rejected statements made by the extremist Israeli Minister of Finance, Bezalel Smotrich, regarding the deepening and strengthening of colonialism in the land of the State of Palestine, whether in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank.

In a statement, the ministry denounced Smotrich’s statements regarding his refusal to allow Israeli banks to cooperate with the sanctions imposed by US administration on a number of extremist colonists, and considered them a disdain for the resolutions of international legitimacy regarding colonialism.

The ministry further warned that seizing Palestinian land does not provide security for anyone, but rather leads to further escalation.

It reiterated that ending the occupation and granting the Palestinian people their legitimate rights to establish their independent state on the borders June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution, is the only way to achieve se
curity and stability for the region.

The Foreign Ministry called for imposing deterrent international sanctions on Israeli extreme right leaders who brag about their violations of international law, which would incite the spread of more violence and chaos in the conflict arena, and provide protection for colonists’ practices on Palestinian people.
