Foreign Minister urges UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to activate accountability measures

GENEVA: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyadh Al-Maliki, called today on the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Trk, to activate accountability measures and reinstate the international team to Palestine in light of the ongoing crimes committed by the Israeli occupation.

During a meeting on the sidelines of the 55th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Al-Maliki discussed with the UN official the humanitarian catastrophe and genocidal war waged by Israel against the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza, where over one and a half million Palestinians are now displaced in the city of Rafah.

He emphasized the need for international officials, including the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, to speak out against Israel’s atrocities, highlighting Israel’s plan to forcibly displace the Palestinian people, fueled by the lack of accountability for Israeli war criminals and the impunity granted to them.

Meantime, Trk reiterated his office’s commitment to international law and
human rights, vowing to oversee the monitoring of these rights, particularly in the face of Israel’s ongoing violations in the occupied Palestinian territory.
