Amman — Marwan Muasher, the former Foreign Minister of Jordan, criticized the Zionist media for their portrayal of Palestinians as “terrorists” in the Western media landscape. Muasher spoke at a seminar named “Scenarios post-Al-Aqsa Flood,” which took place on Monday at the Jordan Press Association (JPA) building.

According to Jordan News Agency, this depiction extends to the labelling of Hamas as a “terrorist organization” linked to other such groups. He applauded King Abdullah’s swift interventions to halt ongoing conflicts and his efforts to support the people of Gaza and Palestine. Muasher also discussed Jordan’s role in a UN General Assembly resolution pertaining to the war on Gaza.

The former Foreign Minister argued that media outlets have a responsibility to spotlight the Israeli occupation’s violation of humanitarian norms. He emphasized the need to appeal to Western public opinion through reason and logic, stating that the Palestinian resistance has been mischaracterized, leading to misguided global sympathy towards the occupier.

Muasher declared that the Gaza Strip has been in a state of imprisonment for two decades and insisted that it is the world’s duty to assist Palestine. He criticized the United States for attempting to mitigate Arab-Israeli disputes through normalization agreements that exclude any mention of Palestine and only vaguely refer to peace or the concept of land for peace.

The ex-diplomat pointed out that the occupying entity is narrowing the Arab-Israeli conflict to Arab normalization agreements with other regional nations. In light of these agreements, he said that this entity sees no reason to engage with Palestinians, as other unrelated parties have taken their place.

Muasher also noted that global understanding of the events in Palestine and Gaza is growing. He accused the occupying entity of having no interest in a Palestinian majority or a Palestinian state, stating that its only option appears to be displacement.

Rakan Al-Saayda, the president of the JPA, also spoke at the seminar. He emphasized the need for unity against attempts to undermine Jordanian solidarity with Gaza. Al-Saayda urged journalists to attend a solidarity stand organized by the JPA on Wednesday to express their condemnation of the war on Gaza. The seminar also included discussions about ongoing Israeli violations in Gaza and the impacts of aggression.
