Amman — Marwan Muasher, former Foreign Minister of Jordan, stated that Zionist media aims to depict Palestinians as “terrorists” in Western media outlets. He made this assertion during a seminar named “Scenarios post-Al-Aqsa Flood,” held at the Jordan Press Association (JPA) building on Monday.

According to Jordan News Agency, such media characterization extends to labeling Hamas as a “terrorist organization” connected to other similar groups. Muasher praised King Abdullah for his immediate actions since the onset of conflicts, including efforts to stop the war and provide support to the populations of Gaza and Palestine. He also cited Jordan’s contribution to a UN General Assembly resolution concerning the war on Gaza.

Muasher argued that the media has a role to play in highlighting the Israeli occupation, which he said contravenes humanitarian standards. He emphasized that the portrayal of Palestinian resistance has been so distorted that it has misled global opinion to sympathize with the occupying force, causing a lack of awareness about the real conditions in the Gaza Strip.

The former Foreign Minister stated that Gaza has been under a form of imprisonment for two decades. He noted that the world has a responsibility to assist Palestine and criticized the U.S. for its attempts to mitigate the Arab-Israeli conflict through normalization agreements that neither mention Palestine explicitly nor clearly outline terms for peace.

Muasher added that these agreements have shifted the focus away from negotiations with the Palestinian side, as they allow for the normalization of relations with other regional nations. He reasoned that this change makes the occupying entity less inclined to engage in discussions with the Palestinians.

Muasher also said that the world is beginning to recognize the realities of the situation in Palestine and Gaza. He claimed that the occupying entity has but one option: displacement, as it is not interested in a Palestinian majority or a Palestinian state.

Rakan Al-Saayda, the JPA president, also made remarks at the seminar. He stressed the necessity of maintaining Jordan’s internal unity against attempts to undermine support for Gaza. Al-Saayda encouraged journalists to participate in a JPA-organized solidarity stand on Wednesday to express their condemnation of the war on Gaza. Discussions during the seminar included ongoing Israeli actions in Gaza and the effects of the aggression.
