ZARQA: Forty-four underprivileged families in Zarqa Governorate received the keys to their new homes on Saturday, marking a significant milestone in the royal housing initiative aimed at supporting poor families. This initiative is part of a broader effort to provide decent living conditions for those in need. According to Jordan News Agency, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, who leads the committee overseeing the implementation of His Majesty the King's initiatives, personally handed over the keys during a ceremony attended by several key figures. These included Minister of Public Works and Housing Maher Abu Al-Samen, Social Development Minister Wafa Bani Mustafa, Zarqa Governor Firas Abu Qaud, Zarqa Mayor Imad Momani, and Housing and Urban Development Corporation Director General Jumana Atiyat. Issawi also toured the newly constructed, fully-furnished homes, noting that they were designed to meet the specific needs of the families, especially the elderly and those with special needs. The housing units are part of the royal initiative launched by His Majesty the King in 2005. This particular project in Zarqa represents 100 homes out of a total of 1,300 planned for construction across Jordan to ensure a dignified life for the impoverished population, he stated. Social Development Minister Mustafa emphasized that the families chosen for this initiative were selected based on fair and transparent criteria, which considered factors such as family size, income, and health conditions. Priority was given to widows, orphans, and individuals with disabilities. She highlighted that this housing initiative aligns with the national social protection strategy by offering safe and healthy living conditions, thus empowering the most vulnerable segments of society.
