Baghdad The Foreign Ministers of Japan, Australia, the United States and India, which are the “QUAD” national dialogue countries, called for increasing the number of permanent and non-permanent members of the UN Security Council.
A joint statement issued by the Ministers said: “We affirm our unwavering support for the UN Charter, including its three principles, in addition to our unwavering commitment to strengthening the United Nations and the international system through a comprehensive program of reforms, including by increasing the number of permanent and non-permanent members of the International Security Council.”
The Ministers also affirmed their commitment to “active and constructive participation in the negotiation process among governments regarding the reform of the UN Security Council with the aim of making it more effective, representative and credible.”
