JERICHO: Four Palestinian citizens were injured this evening in an attack carried out by Israeli colonists against the Arab ar-Rashaiyda Village, north of Jericho.

The general supervisor of Al-Baydar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights, Hassan Malihat, told WAFA that colonists attacked the said village and citizens, beating them up and causing injuries to four people. The colonists also tried to steal residents’ sheep. Ar-Rashaiyda community is located adjacent to the Al-Auja Water Spring.

The attack came following a visit to the area by extremist Israeli Minister Bezalel Smorich and the Chairman of the Colonies Council in the West Bank and their announcement of taking control over the Al-Auja Water Spring and intentions of carrying out expansion work there.

The extremist Israeli Minister of Finance, Smotrich, accompanied by the head of the Jordan Valley Colonial Council Shlomo Ne’eman and colonies’ leaders, stormed the Al-Auja Spring area and announced a joint plan to seize the spring and impos
e ‘exclusive Israeli control’ over the area.
