Fujairah Crown Prince attends signing of agreement to connect gas network to industrial facilities

FUJAIRAH: – H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, witnessed the signing of a strategic agreement between the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ) and the Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat).

The agreement was signed by Ali Qasim, General Manager of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, Captain Salem Abdullah Al Afkham, Director of FOIZ, and Dr. Rahma bin Mohammed Al Shamsi

Retail Sales Director at the Emarat.

Sheikh Mohammed stressed that strategic partnerships are vital for achieving sustainable development goals and integrating the industrial facilities system of the Emirate of Fujairah, which will improve the performance and efficiency of the oil, gas, and energy sectors.

The project’s first phase will expand and link the gas network to Fujairah’s industrial facilities to encourage using natural gas in the emirate’s industry, commerce, and energy sectors.

Qasim said that the agreement will boost Fujai
rah’s economy and is an important milestone for the corporation’s sustainable development journey, in line with the country’s goals and policies to shift to a zero-carbon economy.

He also highlighted the environmental benefits of using gas as a green energy source, such as improving sustainability, lowering carbon emissions, and facilitating economic growth in Fujairah.

Al Afkham affirmed the importance of natural gas for mining industries and its role in supporting innovation, research and development, to attract investments in natural gas and sustainable gas technology.

This will require developing cost-effective and environmentally supportive solutions for using gas in industries and diversifying energy sources, he added, highlighting the need to stimulate the green economy and promote the concept of environmental sustainability.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Director of the Office of the Crown Prince of Fujairah, Mohamed Saif Al Afkham, Chairman of the Board of Dire
ctors of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, and Nabil bin Batti Al Muhairi, Executive Director of Gas Operations Department.
