DUBAI: Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, met today with Geir O. Pedersen, Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Syria, and discussed the latest developments related to the Syrian crisis.
The meeting focused on the diplomatic efforts exerted by the international community and the UN envoy to reach a political solution to the crisis that ensures the end of the resulting humanitarian suffering and enhances security and stability in the region.
Dr. Anwar Gargash affirmed the UAE’s support for the efforts exerted by the United Nations in this regard, stressing that the political solution is the only solution to reach a settlement that preserves Syria’s stability, unity, and security, and returns it to its natural position in its regional environment.
He pointed out that in light of the circumstances and complexities that the region is going through, it is necessary to continue working and intensifying efforts to achieve progress in the political track in Syria, and to combine a
ll efforts to come up with realistic solutions and mechanisms that ensure a way out of the state of instability and prepare the conditions for reconstruction and development in a way that serves the interests of the brotherly Syrian people.
For his part, the UN envoy reviewed the latest developments and efforts made by the United Nations to resolve the Syrian crisis.
