The GCC Secretary-General, Jassem Al-Budaiwi, condemned the Israeli Minister of Finance’s “racist” remarks, in which he denied the existence of the Palestinian people.

In a press statement Tuesday, Al-Budaiwi stressed the need to confront hate speech and violence, pointing to the importance of promoting the values of tolerance and human coexistence as part of the efforts exerted to reduce escalation and instability in the region by the Israeli occupation forces.

He also went on affirming the GCC states stance towards the Palestinian cause, supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Yesterday, during an event in Paris, the Israeli Minister of Finance used a map of Israel that includes the borders of Jordan and the occupied Palestinian Territories and also denied the existence of Palestinian people.
