GEIDCO Chairman highlights significance of accelerating green, low-carbon transition of global energy

Xin Baoan, Chairman of the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organisation (GEIDCO) and Executive Chairman of State Grid Corporation of China, highlighted the significance of accelerating the green and low-carbon transition of global energy, addressing climate change, and realise the sustainable development of humanity.

In his opening speech on the occasion of Energy Day, part of COP28 events, Baoan – who is also the President of China Electricity Council – said that the challenge posed by the climate problem puts great pressure on sustainable development efforts.

This came during the events organised by GEIDCO in cooperation with seven international organisations – on the occasion of Energy Day – to emphasise the importance of GEIDCO’s role in supporting the transition to clean energy sources.

GEIDCO Chairman stressed that achieving a qualitative transformation in the energy sector requires adopting an inclusive vision that considers the balance between energy security and the need
to transition to clean sources.

Baoan pointed out that GEIDCO can provide a systematic approach to address these challenges by facilitating the transfer and exchange of clean energy between countries and reducing the costs of producing and consuming energy, which will contribute to achieving justice and equal opportunities for all.
