Damascus, SANA- Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces and Minister of Defense, General Ali Abbas, affirmed that the Syrian Arab Army, since its founding, has been able to confront the projects of domination and colonialism and defended the nation’s issues, pointing out that the army personnel have been fighting terrorism and its backers for more than 11 years with heroism, and they will be victorious.
Abbas’ remarks came in a phone call with al-Souryia T.V. Channel on the 77th anniversary of founding the Syrian Arab Army.
General Abbas congratulated the homeland, its leader President Bashar al-Assad and the army personnel on this occasion, paying a tribute to the souls of the martyrs, and wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
“The Syrian Arab Army chose, since its founding, to be the army of the Arab nation, and it has confronted heroically the projects of domination and colonialism with its various forms, and defended the nation’s issues, on top of which is the Palestinian cause… the central issue.” Minister Abbas said.
He added “ The Syrian Arab Army also fought in the October Liberation War and the battles of attrition that followed it, which resulted in the liberation of the city of Quneitra and it put down the civil war in brotherly Lebanon, confronted with all courage the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982 and supported the resistance, which turned into an effective qualitative force that proved its ability to defeat the enemy and liberate most of the occupied Lebanese territories in 2000 and crystallized a strategic victory in the July 2006 war in the face of the Israeli occupation.”
The Minister of Defense noted that since more than 11 years of the war imposed on Syria, the personnel of our Syrian Arab army are still fighting terrorism and its supporters with heroism and power, despite the unlimited military support for this cross-border terrorism from the colonial countries that pursue a policy of killing, aggression and destruction.
General Abbas emphasized that no matter how great the sacrifices and challenges, the personnel of the Syrian Arab Army, with their constant vigilance and high sense of national responsibility, will remain stronger and more determined to follow the path of giving and building under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, the guarantor of security, stability and victory.
“We assure all the countries conspiring against Syria and who believed that the Syrian Arab Army was incapable of fighting any kind of war that the history of our valiant army has been written by heroism and sacrifices since its establishment until today,” Abbas said.
