Dubai’s successful narrative and unique identity were reaffirmed by members of the General Network for Government Communication (GNGC) who met to discuss its strategic vision and ambitious plans. The members, from various communications departments in government entities emphasised that Dubai’s success is rooted in its rich history and strong legacy built over several decades. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has been the lead in upholding these values of creating a better future, embracing the world, transforming challenges into opportunities, and involving everyone in the journey towards progress. In his welcome speech, Ahmed Al Mahri, Assistant Secretary-General for Government Communication and Secretariat Affairs, emphasised the growing importance of government communications and its role to promote Dubai’s story and its pioneering positioning globally. l Mahri thanked Al Shindagha Museum for hosting the meeting and integrating Dubai’s historical identity with its ambitious future vision. From her side, Budoor Ali, Director of Government Communications at the General Secretariat of the Executive Council, praised the active participation of various government sectors in supporting the network and presenting developments that would contribute to the continuous coordination between the various entities. She reaffirmed that government communications continue to evolve and influence the dissemination of information about various projects and initiatives to the community, which supports government directives and builds on its successes in telling the unique story of Dubai, and always putting the people at the centre of development. The meeting witnessed the presentation of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, where Mohammed Ali Al Kamali, Deputy CEO of Dubai Industries and Exports, presented a roadmap for Dubai’s economic future. The roadmap aims to drive growth and double the size of Dubai’s economy, consolidating its position among the top three economic cities in the world. During the meeting, the most important strategic directions in sustainable development in Dubai were highlighted. Samira Al Rais, Senior Director of Policies and Strategies for Sustainable Development at the General Secretariat of The Executive Council, presented a series of sustainability stations and initiatives that Dubai continues to adopt, including the circular economy and food security. To conclude she highlighted that UAE is set to host the “COP28” towards the end of the year, which reaffirms the country’s commitment to tackling climate change and promoting sustainable development. bdullah Al Obaidly, Acting Director of Al Shindagha Museum, presented the details of the largest heritage museum project in the Emirates, which includes 22 pavilions that embrace more than 80 historical houses that narrate the development of Dubai and the UAE. Rashad Bukhash, Head of Architectural Heritage Society, presented a knowledge session on the importance of preserving urban heritage in shaping the identity of cities and strengthening their community’s belonging. The meeting concluded with a tour of Dar Al Maktoum in Al Shindagha, which contains inspiring historical information about Dubai’s past and its established system of values based on positivity, ambition, and building an international trade centre that will be a link between East and West.
