German jets deployed in NATO’s eastern flank scrambled Russian aircraft more than two dozen times, media reports said Tuesday.

Eurofighter jets from the German Air Force conducted scores of flights in the Baltic region in recent months to track and intercept Russian jets, German press agency DPA reported.

According to a spokesperson from the Air Force, German jets scrambled 27 times since August in response to Russian aircraft approaching NATO airspace.

Currently, around 150 German soldiers are stationed in Estonia as part of a NATO mission to protect the Alliance’s territory in eastern Europe.
