Asunci³n:Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, has called on world leaders, parliaments, and institutions to renew their commitment to fostering a global culture of peace and promoting tolerance and dialogue.

According to Emirates News Agency, Al Jarwan made these remarks during the regional session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace for Latin America and the Caribbean, held in Asunci³n on 23rd and 24th September. The event was hosted by Paraguay's Chamber of Deputies and saw broad international parliamentary participation.

Al Jarwan emphasized the session's role in enhancing cooperation between Latin American and Caribbean parliaments and other members of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace. He advocated for developing sustainable partnerships that transform the principles of tolerance and peace into practical initiatives.

He stressed that peace must be a genuine global priority rather than just a slogan, requiring trust-building, dialogue enhancement, diversity respect, and establishing common ground for cooperation. Al Jarwan also highlighted the responsibility of parliaments to promote tolerance through legislation, dialogue, and parliamentary diplomacy, while addressing hate speech and division.

Amid the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Al Jarwan urged the international community to reaffirm its commitment to a global culture of peace. He recalled the UN General Assembly's adoption of Resolution 53/243 in 1999, which underscores understanding, tolerance, and solidarity among civilizations, peoples, and cultures.

Al Jarwan called for these principles to be translated into actionable policies and initiatives, advocating for stronger cooperation with the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace. He noted that peace is a shared responsibility, necessitating coordinated efforts by governments, parliaments, institutions, and communities, with a culture of peace embedded in public policy, education, and social discourse.

During the visit, Pedro Alliana, Vice President of Paraguay, and Raºl Latorre, President of Paraguay's Chamber of Deputies, received Al Jarwan and his delegation. Discussions centered on strengthening parliamentary cooperation, expanding partnerships with the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, and supporting initiatives that promote dialogue, understanding, and peace.
