AMMAN: The government of Jordan is committed to fostering a genuine partnership with the private sector as part of its strategy to address the persistent issue of unemployment, Industry Minister Yarub Al-Qudah announced. Speaking at a meeting with the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA), the minister emphasized that the prosperity of the national economy is intrinsically linked to the growth of the private sector. He highlighted that the government cannot independently resolve unemployment without active collaboration from this sector, which is the leading employer of Jordanians. According to Jordan News Agency, Minister Al-Qudah underscored the significance of the government's economic modernization vision, asserting its role in promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth. He detailed the ministry's initiatives aimed at bolstering economic sectors, such as the implementation of an industrial policy, the establishment of the Industrial Sector Support and Development Fund, and the launch of the Na tional Export Strategy. These efforts are complemented by the activities of Jordan Exports (JE) in facilitating participation in international exhibitions and expanding markets for national products. Minister Al-Qudah also highlighted the pivotal role of the services sector, which remains the largest employer of Jordanians. He noted that the ministry has formulated a comprehensive strategy to enhance this sector and its export capabilities. In line with this, the cabinet has agreed to exempt profits from services exports from taxes for a decade. The minister further stressed the importance of agreements with the UAE, aimed at boosting trade in goods and services and encouraging joint investments. In addressing the challenges faced by the national economy, Minister Al-Qudah acknowledged the complexities posed by regional events, which have had significant impacts on economic conditions. He called for a collaborative approach, urging stakeholders to work together to surmount these obstacles rather than attrib uting economic stagnation to external circumstances. The minister advocated for the implementation of major projects, such as the railway project, to invigorate the economic sectors.
