Governors from across the country have taken part in celebrations of the Egyptian Copts on the occasion of Easter and the Holy Thursday as they exchanged greetings amid a cordial and cheerful atmosphere.
Sharqiya Governor Mamouh Ghorab paid a visit to Zagaziq Diocese to offer greetings to its bishop Priest Timothy Bishop of Zagazig and Minya Al qamh on the Easter.
The governor was accompanied by President of Zagaziq University and deputy governors Ahmed Abdel Moatey.
Priest Timothy voiced happiness over the spirits of fraternity, respect and love which are shared by the Muslims and Christians in the various occasions, reflecting the strong fabrics among the brethren of the nation.
Also, in Beni Suef, the churches and monasteries celebrated the holy Thursday, the Thursday before Easter, observed in commemoration of Jesus Christ’s institution of the Eucharist during the Last Supper.
In Qena, Governor Ashraf El Dawoudy sent a cable of greetings to Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria & Patriarch of All Africa on the Holy Apostolic See of St. Mark, on the occasion of Easter and wished Egypt and its people more security, peace and prosperity.
The governor sent similar cables to a number of top Coptic officials, bishops of the Churches of Qena, Minister of Emigration and Expatriate Affairs Soha Gendy and Governor of Ismailia Sherif Bishara.
Also, Governor of Assiut Essam Saad sent a cable of greetings to Pope Tawadros on the Easter celebrations, praying for God to preserve Egypt and its people and to maintain peace, goodness and prosperity for all its sons.
