The government plans to build a resilient economy capable of dealing with shocks and works on addressing development gaps among the various governorates, affirmed Egypt’s Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala El Said.

The minister’s remarks came during her participation in the “Messages from the Regions” session, which was held within the activities of the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development 2022 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The forum is being held under the theme of “Building Back Better after the COVID-19 Pandemic” while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The minister, meanwhile, affirmed Egypt’s keenness to share its successful experience with the countries of the world concerning achieving sustainable development goals, explaining that the Egyptian government is working hard to evaluate how to implement Vision 2030 and speed up its realization.

The minister pointed out that Egypt’s Vision 2030 is currently being updated to better prepare and respond to any challenges or changes.

Talking about the “Decent Life” presidential initiative, the minister said that initiative, which is the largest development project, aimed at creating sustainable rural communities with the participation of all stakeholders.

The initiative is the largest development project in Egypt’s history, she said, noting that its budget surpasses dlrs 45 billion and targets 58% of Egypt’s total population.
