Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Tarek el Molla affirmed that the government is keen on supporting cooperation with the various international companies, which seek to implement activities and investments in the spheres of green energy and reducing emissions.

Molla added in statements, on Tuesday28/6/2022, during his meeting with Terje Pilskog, the CEO of Scatec, a Norway-based integrated independent solar power producer, that this will contribute to the success of the State’s strategy to be one of the most important markets in this sphere and a pivotal hub for energy trading.

The meeting was, also, attended by Norwegian Ambassador to Egypt Hilde Klemetsdal, took up ways of boosting cooperation and exploring the available opportunities for joint cooperation with the Norwegian company within the upcoming phase.

The minister added that the efforts to promote green energy and reduce emissions in the petroleum sector are considered main part of the State’s strategy to confront climate change.

For his part, Klemetsdal pointed out to the Norwegian company’s great capabilities in the projects of green hydrogen and green ammonia.

He also pointed out to his company’s keenness on holding joint cooperation with Egypt, referring to the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), the Electricity Ministry and Egypt’s Sovereign Fund to set up a factory to produce green hydrogen.
