Grant Signing Ceremony for GGP Japan-funded project to expand electricity network in Salfit

RAMALLAH: The Grant Contract for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) was signed today by Nakashima Yoichi, Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine, and the representative of Deir Ballut Municipality at the Representative Office of Japan in Ramallah, for a total amount of $72,980.

Deir Ballut municipality will use a fund of $72,980 to expand the electricity network in the town of Deir Ballut on Salfit. It aims to enhance access to electricity for 800 households; approximately 4,000 people, in Deir Ballut by installing a 630kVA transformer, a 300-meter high-voltage line, and a 100-meter low-voltage line.

The Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine congratulated the representatives of Deir Ballut Municipality and wished them success in the project.

He emphasized Japan’s firm commitment to supporting the Palestinian people from a human security perspective, as well as the importance of implementing social and economic development proj
ects needed for Palestinian communities.

Since 1993, the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance, amounting to approximately USD 2.4 billion, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through the Ministry of Finance since 2010.
