Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias informed his Cypriot counterpart, Constantinos Kombos, of Greece’s support for the decision of the Republic of Cyprus to be re-elected to Category C of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council for the period 2024-25, during their bilateral meeting, yesterday in Nicosia. Dendias was in the Cypriot capital to attend a trilateral ministerial meeting, on Friday, together with his Cypriot and Israeli counterparts. The elections for Category C of the IMO Council will take place during the 33rd IMO Assembly (27 November – 6 December 2023). According to Greek diplomatic sources, this decision of the Greek government is part of the excellent level of maritime cooperation between Greece and Cyprus, both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union.
