The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, Monday condemned the attack on the base of the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia, which houses Ugandan peacekeepers, in Lower Shabella. In a statement, Guterres commended the African Union forces, expressing his appreciation for their service in support of peace and stability in Somalia. He renewed his call for international support for the African Forces in Somalia and the Somali security forces in their fight against “violent extremism.”
