Health min. heads for Alexandria’s Carrefour fire scene

Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar headed for the scene of a fire that broke out earlier Saturday in Alexandria’s Muharram Beik district branch of Carrefour chain of hypermarkets.

Civil protection forces managed to douse the fire and no casualties were reported.

The minister decided to suspend his planned inspection tour of health facilities in Alexandria, the Health Ministry’s spokesman said.

The minister directed to put nearby hospitals on alert for receiving any possible casualty cases.

Twelve ambulances were sent to the fire scene.

Initial investigations indicate that the fire broke out in the area of the central air conditioning units on the rooftop of the building.
