Kuwait has paid much attention to neurology diseases through establishing units for this specialty at all hospitals, making a quantum leap in stroke treatment, Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi said Friday.
The minister made the remark while inaugurating the 6th Kuwait Neurology Conference, held during March 10th-11th.
He said the conference really embodies the ministry’s efforts made in harnessing all methods to achieve distinguished medical values in research and knowledge, and improve health services to both citizens and expats.
The ministry’s staff has had more than 100 scientific research over the past years published on the most scientific periodicals, he said, expressing his pride for this achievement.
In a press statement, Dr. Jassem Al-Hashel, head of Kuwait Neurology Society and professor at Faculty of Medicine, said it is one of the most important conferences held in the Middle East and North Africa as it attracts the best doctors all over the world.
Al-Hashel, also president of the coference, said some European and US speakers would deliver 35 lectures and organize a number of workshops, with the participation of 1,000 doctors from 24 countries.
The two-day conference discusses several issues like multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and headache, and how to treat them, in addition to involuntary movement diseases, convulsions, epilepsy and strokes, he stated.
Kuwait has been one of the countries that offers the best health service owing to the country’s qualified and efficient doctors, he indicated.
