Health ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghafar said the minister reviewed special reports pertaining to the rate of women who are examined by the initial health care units and hospitals included in the initiative.

The spokesperson also said the minister ordered expansion in the centers offering mammogram scans to reach 71 compared with 13 centers in 2019, in addition to establishing 60 laboratories in some rare specializations.

Thanks to the initiative, the average rate of prophylactic surgeries increased by 34.25 percent by the end of 2022 compared with the previous year, while resection surgeries increased by 60 percent, added the spokesperson.

He also noted that 34,724,866 women have been examined as part of the initiative.

Through the initiative’s website, women can locate their nearest clinics or inquire about them via the hotline 15335.

As part of the state’s keenness on maintaining healthy households and society at large, the Presidential Egyptian Women’s Health Initiative was launched in 2019 to promote the health of Egyptian women. Women were targeted in particular as a bracket in dire need of health education and care.

The initiative is designed to screen carcinoma of the breast at an early stage for 28 million women governorate-wide; pursue clinical examination; and provide free-of-charge treatment. In the same vein, reproductive health, family planning, and healthy lifestyles remain at the core of the initiative. Detection of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, blood pressure and obesity constitute an integral part of this endeavor. Risk factors of non-communicable diseases and breast self-exam are further considered.
