Health ministry, Association of Members of British Royal College cooperation in “Thousand Golden Days”

Health Minister Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar Thursday 20/10/2022 witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Health and the Association of Members of the British Royal College of Pediatrics to cooperate in the “Thousand Golden Days” initiative, within the national project to develop the Egyptian family’s health.

 

The protocol was signed by the Ministry’s Spokesman Dr Hossam Abdel Ghaffar and Dr Abla El-Alfi, the President of the association.

 

The protocol includes cooperation to raise the efficiency of health service providers in primary care facilities in the field of caring for the first thousand days of a child’s life, reproductive health and family counseling, through training the health team in family counseling skills, the spokesman said.

 

Cooperation includes working to reduce the rates of unnecessary cesarean section deliveries, raising awareness and providing family planning services immediately after birth, including the installation of the intrauterine device (IUD) during a C-section, in addition to cooperation in the fields of training nurses in primary care facilities on the skills of natural birth, he added.

 

Abdul Ghaffar pointed out that the cooperation also includes working to open family counseling centers whenever possible in primary care facilities and hospitals, and training counselors in order to raise awareness and change behavior and practices during the thousand golden days in primary care facilities, hospitals and neonatal units.
