The Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, will visit Moscow on Wednesday to discuss with Russian officials the safety of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in southeastern Ukraine.

According to an IAEA spokesperson, the visit comes within the framework of Grossi’s efforts to persuade the Russian and Ukrainian sides to cooperate in the field of providing protection and safety for the Zaporizhzhia plant, which is under the control of the Russian forces.

Grossi repeatedly expressed his concern about the “increased military activity” near the plant, stressing that the situation around the station has not calmed down or improved, pointing to the increase in the volume of military operations in this entire area.
