Voting process in the Sharjah Consultative Council elections will start on Tuesday, 5th December 2023, in nine voting centres across the emirate.

As part of the conduct of the electoral process, the Supreme Committee for the Sharjah Consultative Council Elections 2023 closed the electronic ballot boxes at the Sharjah Consultative Council today in preparation for the start of voting starting tomorrow.

The closing of the boxes was attended by Counselor Dr. Mansour Mohammed bin Nassar, Head of the Sharjah Government Legal Department and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Sharjah Consultative Council Elections and was attended by committee members.

This came in the wake of the intense preparations by the Supreme Election Committee and the associated committees to begin the voting phase tomorrow, Tuesday, over a period of three days for those registered in electoral bodies, that is, from 5th to 7th December, through electronic voting on the dedicated SCC election website WWW.ECCS.SHJ.AE or in person at
nine accredited electoral centres in the emirate.

The electronic voting system offers the voters a convenient and smooth option of casting their ballot, through the website designated for elections, 24 hours a day for three days, or on the Digital Sharjah app by using the digital identity of the “UAE PASS”.

Following the approval of their vote, the system will allow the voters to select their choice of candidates from the list of names according to the electoral district with which they are affiliated. The process concludes successfully with the voter confirming the choice of their candidate.

The accredited voting centres in the emirate of Sharjah will receive citizens who wish to visit the polling centres to exercise their vote. The polling centres have also made arrangements to receive elderly voters or those with visual impairment allowing them to cast their votes using their ID card over a period of three days, from 08:00 to 16:00.

The approved voting centres in the emirate are: Sharjah City: Sharjah
Chess Club; Al Hamriyah Region: Al Hamriya District Municipality; Al Dhaid City: Al Bustan District Council; Mleiha Area: Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club; Al Madam District: Al Madam District Municipality; Al-Bataeh District: Al-Bataeh District Municipality; Khorfakkan City: Expo Centre Khorfakkan; Kalba City: Kalba Neighborhoods City Council; and Dibba Al-Hisn: Dibba Al-Hisn City Council.

Dr. bin Nassar pointed out that the extraordinary interest of citizens to get themselves registered this time around reflects their interest in b
eing part of the electoral and decision-making process. He stressed that the Election Committee has spared no effort to ensure the procedures for all stages of the electoral process, including the voting, are transparent and accurate in accordance with the global best practices. All physical arrangements and electronic systems are in place and are ready to receive citizens from tomorrow for the historic elections in Sharjah, he added.

The preliminary results of the SCC polls are scheduled to be announced on Thursday, 7th December 2023, followed by a period of two days of appeals, from 8th to 9th December.
