The Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) issued a new report under the title “Saving energy in a new normal”. The report dealt with how to achieve energy efficiency and the most important international strategies in this field.

The report indicated that the rationalization of electricity consumption in homes is the quick way to save energy, as electricity and fuel used in heating, cooling and lighting homes represent nearly 40% of energy consumption in Europe. It is also responsible for about 35% of greenhouse gas emissions.

The IDSC highlighted Egypt’s launch of an initiative to rationalize electricity consumption to preserve foreign reserves.

In August 2022, it was announced that Egypt would implement a program to reduce electricity consumption in an attempt to increase natural gas exports and increase foreign exchange reserves.
