The cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) said the Suez Canal revenues hit a record high of dlrs 7 billion during the fiscal year 2021-2022, up 20.7% from the previous year.

Thus, it achieved the highest return in its history, compared to about dlrs 5.8 billion in 2020-2021, according to an infograph issued by the center on Tuesday.

It further noted that the number of ships transiting the Suez Canal in 2021-2022 increased by 15.7%, registering about 22,000 ships, compared to 19,000 ships in 2020-2021.
