in telephone call: President Abbas discusses latest political developments with Canadian prime minister

President Mahmoud Abbas discussed during a telephone call tonight with Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau the latest political development in the Palestinian territories.President Abbas affirmed during the call the necessity of immediately stopping the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.He also stressed the need to provide protection to the Palestinian people and to open urgent humanitarian corridors to the Strip, in addition to the provision of medical supplies and supplying Palestinians there with water, electricity, and fuel.Regarding Israel’s order for Palestinians to leave their homes in northern Gaza toward the southern part of the Strip, President Abbas reiterated his complete rejection of displacing Palestinians from their homes. ‘Because it would be another Nakba for the Palestinian people,’ he said.The president urged the Canadian prime minister to provide protection to the Palestinian community in Canada against harassment and threats they are subjected to.
