The Industrial Producers’ Prices index inched up by 0.17 percent in the first tertile of 2023, amounting to 136.99 points against 136.76 points in the same timeframe of 2022, the latest figures showed. A report issued Monday by the Department of Statistics (DoS) said this uptick comes as a result of a 20.96 percent increase in the extractive industries prices index, although transformative industries and electricity prices indexes decreased by 0.97 percent and 9.30 percent, respectively. In April 2023, the producer’s prices index went down by 6.50 percent, reaching 136.35 points compared to 145.83 during the same month of 2022, the report noted. The main contributors to the monthly decrease were transformative industries with an 8.08-percent contribution to the overall reduction followed by electricity with 8.53 percent, while the extractive industries prices index went up 13.45 percent.
