Inmates of rehabilitation centers allowed exceptional family visits to occasion of Human Rights Day: Interior Ministry

The Interior Ministry has okayed an exceptional family visit to every inmate at correctional and rehabilitation centers across Egypt on the occasion of Human Rights Day, which falls on December 10 of each year.

The gesture reflects keenness of the Interior Ministry to provide support and care for inmates of those centers by allowing them to meet their relatives on the different occasions.

The exceptional visits will be made on December 30 and won’t be counted as one of the scheduled encounters, the Ministry said on Monday 20/12/2021.

All precautionary measures should be taken and social distancing rules should be observed, the Ministry stressed.

The move comes as part of efforts by the Interior Ministry to promote the values of human rights and apply a modern punishment approach, it said.
