Instructions to set Jordanian-only professions published in Official Gazette

Instructions were issued in the Official Gazette identifying professions and handicrafts that non-Jordanians are banned to practice, issued under Paragraph (B) of Article 12 of the Investment Environment Regulation for 2023. According to the new guides, non-Jordanians are not allowed to work in barbershops for both sexes, as well as upholstery and furniture renovation workshops, dessert, pastries or ice cream production for direct sale, carpentry, blacksmithing, aluminum fabrication and metal processing industry. Also, according to the law, non-Jordanians are banned to work in embroidery business and sewing traditional costumes workshops, goldsmithing and jewellery, as well as pure water bottling production and nut roasting and packaging industry for the purpose of direct sale. Under the law, non-Jordanians are banned form working in laundry, plastics fabrication, photography, dyeing clothes and auto mechanics workshops. The instructions exclude establishments that practice crafts and handicrafts, with number of workers exceeding 10 registered at Social Security Corporation (SSC).
