Insurance conference recommends setting up regional climate risk pool

The fourth Annual Sharm El-Sheikh Insurance and Reinsurance Rendezvous on Tuesday 4/10/2022 recommended the establishment of a partnership with the Egyptian government and the Financial Regulatory Authority to set up a regional climate risk pool as an insurance instrument that helps regional countries in facing up to the impacts of climate change such as drought and agricultural production loss.

At the end of their meetings, the participants in the conference pressed for creating integration with insurance services for small and medium enterprises and micro-insurance facilities to build capacities to help societies withstand climate-related risks.

They also called for launching awareness campaigns on climate change and urged insurance companies to assist in combating climate risks.

The Insurance Federation of Egypt organized the 4th Sharm El Sheikh Rendezvous from 2 to 4 October at Rixos Premium Seagate in Sharm El Sheikh.
