Int’l cooperation minister visits UAE to partake in MENACW 2022

Minister of International Cooperation Rania el-Mashsat started an official visit to the UAE Monday during which she will partake in the Middle East and North Africa Climate Week MENACW 2022 as part of government efforts to develop economic ties with multi-lateral, as well as bilateral development partners, with a view to promoting Egypt Development Vision 2030.

During the visit, the minister is scheduled to participate in a number of activities including, “The Women in Government Forum” held on the sidelines of the World Government Summit WGS 2022 to discuss the women’s role at WGS and the necessity of empowering the next generation of women leaders in the governments.

The forum will bring together more than 100 female leaders and decision-makers from around the world.

The gathering is meant to increase women’s participation in all government-related activities and incentivize governments to prepare a leading female generation, with a view to upping women’s opportunities in leading decision making, as well as top-governmental posts.

The MENACW 2022 is organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to accelerate collaboration, integrate climate action into global pandemic recovery and discuss a host of climate related issues to face up to climate change repercussions on the region and incorporate carbon-free economies.

The four-day gathering provides a platform for governments, cities, private sector leaders, financial institutions and civil society to discuss opportunities to build forward from the pandemic by identifying opportunities to enhance climate action. The event will bring together key stakeholders to take the pulse of climate action in the region, explore climate challenges and opportunities and showcase ambitious solutions.

The minister will also participate in an UNFCCC event on climate change and a discussion panel on green economy transformation opportunities in Africa.
