DUBLIN: Irish Foreign Minister Michael Martin said today that the use of starvation as a weapon in Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
In a post on his account on the ‘X’ platform, the Irish Foreign Minister said Israel’s prevention of UNRWA aid from reaching northern Gaza is a moral violation and something completely unacceptable.
He denounced the use of starvation as a weapon in the Israeli aggression on Gaza, saying that it constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
The Gaza Strip is experiencing tragic conditions due to the severe scarcity of food, water, medicine and fuel supplies, with the internal displacement of about two million Palestinians in the Strip, which has been besieged by Israel for 17 years.
Since the beginning of this month, the occupation’s massacres have been targeting repeatedly citizens waiting for aid to arrive at the Kuwait Roundabout in Gaza City.
On February 29, the occupation forces commi
tted a massacre on Al-Rashid Street, west of Gaza City, near the Nabulsi Roundabout, after targeting thousands of citizens who were waiting for aid convoys, which led to the killing of at least 117 citizens and the injury of 800 others
The occupation forces have continued their aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7 of last year, killing 32,333 citizens, and injuring 74,694 others, in addition to thousands of people missing under the rubble.
