BETHLEHEM: Israeli colonial settlers today started the groundwork for the construction of a settler-only road on Palestinian-owned lands in the town of Battir, located to the west of Bethlehem.

Omar Qaisi, active in the Wall and Settlement Resistance Committees, said colonists embarked on the constructing of a road on Palestinian-owned lands, which occupies an area of about 100 dunums.

Owners of the land have official papers that prove their ownership of the land, Qaisi added.

Colonists had seized the said land on December 24th, and installed several mobile homes and shacks for raising livestock, often seen as step to taking over the land and establish a colonial outpost.

Al-Qaisi said that settlers had previously razed the land, built a colonial road inside it, preventing locals from reaching their lands.
